About Us

It all began with the land.

How It Started

I’m Sarah, and Roots & Rescues Blooms began as more than a flower farm — it began as a tribute.

This land once belonged to my great-grandparents, and it’s where we chose to build our home — a modern farmhouse designed in quiet tribute to the one my grandmother was raised in and we heard countless stories about. Those of riding Shorty to school bareback (who was not short at all), the thrill of jumping over ditches and logs, grandmother Bland’s fried chicken, and the pride of granddaddy Bland’s split-rail fences. What started as a personal restoration of space and history continues to grow into something more: a small flower farm rooted in family legacy, inspired by “mamaw,” who could grow anything, and shaped by a deep love for animals that I’m certain I and many others in my family inherited from the most wonderful “papaw.”

The name Roots & Rescues reflects both sides of that story:
Roots, for the soil, the family, and the generations that came before me.
Rescues, for the animals who’ve always had my heart — and who remind me daily that beauty and healing often grow from the most unexpected places.

What We Grow

At Roots & Rescues Blooms, I grow specialty cut flowers in an organic, garden-style way — slow, seasonal, and with intention. Every stem is chosen for its form, texture, and heirloom charm: snapdragons, dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, peonies, and poppies (to name a few)— all varieties that are both beautiful and nostalgic.

Whether you're designing for a wedding, curating for your clients, or sourcing blooms that reflect your creative vision, I want each flower to feel like it belongs—thoughtfully grown, seasonally timed, and ready to play its part in the meaningful moments you help bring to life.

Where We’re Headed

This is my trial year, with full launch planned for early spring 2026. I’m currently focused on serving florists, event designers and planners, and creative professionals throughout Northern Kentucky and nearby areas—offering organically grown, seasonal blooms that bring a garden-style feel to your work.

Fall 2025 field design is underway, with seed starting and planting starting in August.

Soon, I’ll also be curating a collection of vintage floral vessels — unique pieces that pair beautifully with our blooms. Some are traditional vases, some are charmingly not—but each one is chosen for its history, texture, and vintage soul. They'll be available first to our core floral clients, then eventually to the public.

Follow Along

There’s a lot still growing—literally and figuratively—and I’d love for you to be part of it.
You can follow the journey over on Instagram @rootsandrescues.blooms or through the blog, where I’ll share stories from the field and inspiration behind the blooms.

Thank you for being here, especially at the beginning. I hope what I’m growing finds its way into something beautiful for you.
